Franchise industry leader Paul Eckert of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, is an experienced executive and business consultant. When he is not working on his many business endeavors, which include his role as president and CEO of Family Financial Centers in Doylestown, Paul Eckert is a longtime supporter of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), the first hospital in the nation devoted solely to caring for children.

In addition to providing world-class patient care, CHOP doctors are making major strides in research. Recently, a group of pediatric oncologists from the hospital shared their latest findings about children’s cancer at a meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in Chicago, Illinois.

Among the reports were two studies from Dr. Shannon L. Maude, who presented on the use of targeted immunotherapy to treat acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in children. Children in the study were treated with T cells, and overall survival at 12 months was 79 percent with a relapse-free survival rate of 76 percent at six months and 55 percent at 12 months.
